I think the heart of this conversation is less about what the medicine gave them and more about what it has continued to teach them long after ceremony ends.
For Tara, the medicine has become part of how she experiences life itself, opening her into a deeper understanding of existence, love, and what she describes as “capital L” Love. For Mark, the teachings continue to unfold each time he returns to ceremony, revealing a through line in his journey and a growing understanding of his relationship with God, family, service, and himself.
What really stayed with me in this conversation is the idea of paradox. That we can be both small and significant. That something can be deeply personal and universal at the same time.
Maybe some of the deepest teachings aren't things we ever fully understand. Maybe they are things we learn to sit with, returning again and again to the space between what seems contradictory, and finding that there is something there that words can't quite reach.
Enjoy and talk soon - Ever Bradley
